Alt was part of Notre Dame’s 2021 recruiting class as a 4-Star offensive tackle out of Minneapolis, Minnesota. His father, John Alt, played college football for the Iowa Hawkeyes and was a first round pick by the Kansas City Chiefs in 1984.
Joe split some time as a freshmen between playing tight end and left tackle. Notre Dame lost its starting left tackle in the first game of the season, and went through a handful of other players at the position. Finally by game four against the Wisconsin Badgers, they inserted Alt at left tackle and he never looked back.
Alt was named a team captain in 20223 and became an Unanimous All-American after a phenomenal season for the Irish. He was a Lombardi Award Finalist, and was clearly the best offensive lineman in the country despite mock drafts saying otherwise for most of the year.
Alt continues the strong tradition of Notre Dame being O-Line U for the NFL Draft, and I can’t wait to see how his career develops — whether at left or at right tackle.
ND Du LAC is still in effect.
Joe Alt is a Charger ⚡️
