Will the 2025 Colts Boast an Elite Offense?

August 6, 2025 by Last Word On Pro Football

When you think of elite NFL offenses, teams like the Buffalo Bills and Baltimore Ravens come to mind. But what about the 2025 Indianapolis Colts?

Indy doesn’t have a superstar quarterback like Josh Allen or Lamar Jackson. But that doesn’t mean they can’t have a high-octane offense this year. Anything is possible.

Will the 2025 Indianapolis Colts Boast an Elite Offense?

Strong Offensive Line

This offseason, the Colts lost center Ryan Kelly and guard Will Fries in free agency. Both players signed with the Minnesota Vikings. However, Indianapolis should still boast one of the league’s best offensive lines.

The Colts possess a great left guard-left tackle duo in Quenton Nelson and Bernhard Raimann. Nelson continues to play at a Hall of Fame caliber level, and Raimann is a top blindside blocker. Plus, Tanor Bortolini and Matt Goncalves should do a good job replacing Kelly and Fries.

Indianapolis still has Jonathan Taylor. The 2021 rushing champ is one of the best running backs in the NFL. He’s coming off a Pro Bowl season, rushing for 1,431 yards and 11 touchdowns in 14 games. If Taylor avoids the injury bug, he could have an MVP-caliber season like in 2021.

Solid Pass-Catchers

Indy has a solid wide receiver room. The group is led by Michael Pittman Jr., Josh Downs, and Alec Pierce. Each of the trio had over 800 receiving yards last season. Pierce enjoyed a breakout year, leading the league in yards per reception with 22.3.

And don’t forget about second-year receiver Adonai Mitchell. While he had consistency and chemistry issues as a rookie, he could figure things out this season.

Tight end was a huge weakness for the Colts last season. However, the team addressed the position by drafting Tyler Warren in the first round of this year’s draft. At Penn State last season, he caught 104 passes for 1,233 yards and eight touchdowns. Warren could be an instant star in Indy, giving the team an excellent pass-catching crew.

But What About Quarterback?

The Colts have a good offensive line and a talented group of pass-catchers. But what about quarterback? Quarterback, of course, is the most important position in football.

Again, the Colts don’t have a star signal-caller like Patrick Mahomes or Joe Burrow. Honestly, no one knows yet who their starter will even be.

Anthony Richardson and Daniel Jones are competing for the starting role. Both players are former top-10 picks who’ve had disappointing careers. Plus, both were benched last season. However, Richardson and Jones have the talent to turn things around.

Richardson, whom the Colts drafted fourth overall in 2023, has missed a lot of time due to injury. If he can finally stay healthy, he’s primed for a breakout year in 2025. He must improve his accuracy, though. Richardson completed just 47.7 percent of his passes last season.

Jones had a career year in 2022. That season, he passed for 3,205 yards and 15 touchdowns while rushing for 708 yards and seven scores. He also led the New York Giants to a playoff victory. Jones (if he wins the starting job) could help the Colts immensely if he returns to his 2022 form.

Sure, the Colts could have an elite offense this season. It depends, though, on how well Richardson or Jones plays.
