Jonathan Taylor hasn’t been present at training camp for the Colts this summer due to an ankle injury and his contract situation. However, his absence is expected to end very soon.
In fact, Colts head coach Shane Steichen told reporters Thursday that Taylor will be back at the facility next week.
“He should be back, yeah, next week,” Steichen told reporters.
Even though Taylor is expected to return to Indianapolis next week, there’s no guarantee he’ll be healthy enough to practice.
“I don’t have an answer for that and a timetable on that,” Steichen replied when asked about Taylor’s availability. “But really looking forward to getting him back and getting him healthy and getting him back out there playing with the guys.”
#Colts HC Shane Steichen says he expects Jonathan Taylor to be back at Grand Park next week. He said he didn’t “have an answer for that,” when asked if JT would practice.

The Colts will need Taylor on the field this season if they’re going to field a dynamic offense.
When healthy, Taylor is arguably the best running back in the league. In 2021, the Wisconsin product had 1,811 rushing yards and 18 touchdowns.
Last year, however, Taylor had just 861 rushing yards and four touchdowns.
