Since the Minnesota Vikings find themselves in need of another pass-catcher before the 2025 regular season, they could trade for wide receiver Alec Pierce. According to Bleacher Report, the source proposed that the Vikings would receive Pierce in return, and they would give a fourth-round draft pick in next year’s draft. This trade would make sense, especially for the Vikings, who need an upgrade in the aerial attack since they’re going to lose Jordan Addison for a couple of games due to a suspension. For the Colts, even though veteran quarterback Daniel Jones is the starter and has shown promising flashes in the preseason, there’s no guarantee he will even bring out the best in Pierce.
Uprising quarterback Anthony Richardson couldn’t live up to expectations again, so it goes to tell you that the Colts are trending towards a season where playoff contention might not be possible. Despite the Colts having one of the best running games because of Jonathan Taylor, they might not have the best passing attack due to the woes of Jones when he was a New York Giant. At this stage, it might be best to send away players like Pierce, who is already on an expiring contract. Pierce could find his role in the Minnesota offense led by JJ McCarthy, which has already lost Addison and will probably be without Jalen Nailor while he nurses a hand injury.
However, there are always other teams in the market for a wide receiver, and since it’s getting closer to the 2025 regular season, these four rosters could look into pursuing Pierce.

Other Possible Suitors
Dallas Cowboys
While George Pickens could add some firepower to the Dallas Cowboys offense, they’re still lacking some depth in the aerial attack behind Jalen Tolbert. The team lost Jonathan Mingo to an injury and will most likely miss half of the season, so this trade does make sense if Dak Prescott wants to throw to more than just one target for the majority of the year. It’s not sensible for Prescott to rely solely on tight end Jake Ferguson, CeeDee Lamb, and Pickens, so the Cowboys need to add Pierce, allowing their quarterback to stretch the field, as Pierce is a reliable route runner.
Washington Commanders
Meanwhile, the Washington Commanders have a mixture of the old with the new on offense, but they could do better in the receiving unit. While they have yet to agree on a contract with Terry McLaurin, this should motivate the Commanders to trade for another offensive weapon for the time being. Pierce in the mix with Luke McCaffrey and Michael Gallup could shore up that aerial attack led by Jayden Daniels’ arm to ensure that everyone gets the best looks.
Kansas City Chiefs
However, the Kansas City Chiefs could also find themselves in the market for a wide receiver. Rashee Rice will miss some time as well due to a suspension, so they should roll the dice on a safe young WR option that’s in their contract year without hurting their pockets. Pierce is the perfect candidate for that role as he has a similar size and elusiveness to Marquise Brown and Xavier Worthy, so it wouldn’t be surprising to see him in Kansas City.
Baltimore Ravens
The Baltimore Ravens don’t need another offensive weapon as they have three out of Zay Flowers, Rashod Bateman and DeAndre Hopkins. It’d be nice for the team to start looking for a permanent and reliable WR3 rather than having to scramble to sign a veteran every offseason. Pierce is an easy fit into the Baltimore offensive scheme, and he might be able to finally break out, led by Lamar Jackson’s throwing ability.
