Indianapolis Colts’ QB Carson Wentz returns to practice ahead of Sunday’s matchup against Tennessee.

Colts’ quarterback Carson Wentz returned to practice on a ‘limited’ basis Friday, according to Zak Keefer, a writer for The Athletic.

Keefer also reports that Wentz will “be a game-time decision” going into Sunday’s matchup against the Tennessee Titans.

Official: Carson Wentz was limited today and will be a game-time decision Sunday.

Wentz has been dealing with an injury to both of his ankles, which he sustained during last Sunday’s game against the Los Angeles Rams. But Wentz, after missing two straight practices, was out there on Friday. Reports from Colts practice were positive regarding the quarterback’s movements, too.

“Wentz is moving around fine in individual drills, and throwing completely normal,” Keefer reported.

Even more of a surprise: Wentz is moving around fine in individual drills, and throwing completely normal. This bodes very well for Sunday. https://t.co/2UpCLLJFrf

Wentz’s toughness has been on display throughout each of the first two games, as he’s been sacked 6 times and hit over 20 times as well. There’s no question that this game is extremely crucial when talking about the Colts’ playoff aspirations.

Indy is looking to win its division for the first time since 2014, and beating the Titans on Sunday would give the Colts a major boost in trying to accomplish that goal. Having Wentz out there on Sunday, even at only 75-80%, gives the team their best chance at beating Tennessee.

Another interesting and important note is, if Wentz is unable to play Sunday, Reich would not commit to either Brett Hundley, who’s taken the majority of first-team reps throughout the last two practices, or Jacob Eason as the starter, according to Keefer.

If Wentz can’t go, Colts coach Frank Reich wouldn’t commit to starting Jacob Eason. Said the team is still working through its options. https://t.co/Z5giLaivz1

Even Reich was a bit surprised that Wentz was able to practice after missing two straight days.

“I’m very surprised we’re even at this point, to be honest,” Reich said. “Because Monday and Tuesday, it was pretty bad. Monday I thought zero chance.”

Now, just two days prior to Indy’s Week 3 game against its division rival, there’s a chance Wentz will be the team’s starter.
