Michael Pittman Jr. will be okay after leaving the Colts’ team practice.

Indianapolis Colts wide receiver Michael Pittman Jr., who left the team’s offseason practice on Thursday, ‘avoided a serious injury’, according to The Athletic’s James Boyd.

#Colts WR Michael Pittman Jr. avoided a serious injury, per a league source.

He banged knees with a teammate, and obviously that didn’t feel great, which is why he responded the way he did. https://t.co/V5v66SOoKi

According to Boyd, Pittman Jr. ‘‘banged knees with a teammate.”

FOX59/CBS4’s Mike Chappell added that Pittman Jr. will “probably be held out of minicamp next week.”

An initial scare, but Pittman ok, per source. Bumped knees. Sore but Ok. Prob will be held out of minicamp next week. https://t.co/bkrgzYeD7l

Even though Pittman Jr. avoided a serious injury, it would make sense for the Colts to take some extra precautions in sitting him out for the team’s minicamp next week.

The health of the Colts’ No. 1 wideout should take priority, especially in such a crucial year for not only the franchise but third-year quarterback Anthony Richardson.

Indianapolis will already be without Richardson for the foreseeable future after he re-aggravated the AC joint in his throwing shoulder during practices last week. Losing Pittman Jr., even for a short period, would’ve been less than ideal for the Colts.

The 27-year-old wideout dealt with a back injury for much of the 2024 season. Pittman Jr. will likely be looking to bounce back himself. He recorded 69 receptions for 808 yards and just three touchdowns last season.

The Colts will begin training camp on July 22.
