Report: Colts' Quenton Nelson suffered high-ankle sprain

September 26, 2021 by Colts Wire Leave a Comment

Indianapolis Colts left guard Quenton Nelson reportedly suffered a high-ankle sprain during the team’s 25-16 loss against the Tennessee Titans on Sunday, per Ian Rapoport of NFL Network.

It appears the All-Pro left guard avoided a major injury when his ankle was rolled on during a run play in the second quarter of Sunday’s game, but a high-ankle sprain is still a tough injury.

#Colts All-Pro G Quenton Nelson, ruled out today with an ankle injury, is believed to have suffered a high-ankle sprain, source said. X-Rays were negative, so good news there. He’ll have tests to determine the full extent and timetable.

The Colts were already battered going into the Week 3 matchup. Right tackle Braden Smith was inactive for the second game in a row while defensive end Kwity Paye was ruled out for the entire game during the first quarter with a hamstring injury. Cornerback Rock Ya-Sin also left the game in the fourth quarter with an ankle injury.

It has been a rough start to the season for Nelson. He’s been playing well, but the injury bug has been a constant nuisance. He had surgery on his foot during the start of training camp and then had been playing through a back injury for the first two games of the season.

Nelson has never missed a start during his four-year career, and it will certainly be something to watch moving forward now that the Colts are 0-3.
