According to Detroit Free Press writer Dave Birkett, Indianapolis Colts assistant general manager Ed Dodds has an interview scheduled with the Detroit Lions for their general manager vacancy on Tuesday:

Earlier this weekend, Dodds withdrew from consideration for the Carolina Panthers general manager opening. However, that did not necessarily mean he would still turn down the opportunity to interview elsewhere.
The Lions have their simultaneous head coaching search ongoing, and if Dodds is brought on board prior to a head coach being hired, it’s very likely that he would have some input.
Dodds is regarded as one of the top young general manager candidates in all of football.
Since arriving from the Seattle Seahawks in 2017, he’s been GM Chris Ballard’s top lieutenant in the scouting and player personnel departments—having helped the Colts acquire and stockpile talent through both free agency and the NFL Draft on both sides of the football.
Dodds has been firsthand credited with helping Ballard target both undrafted cornerback Kenny Moore and free agent Denico Autry, but likely has played a role in acquiring many more players behind the Colts’ football operations curtains.
Prior to joining the Colts, Dodds previously served as the Seattle Seahawks Senior Executive Personnel Director (2015-2017) and a longtime national scout.
Facing long-term needs at several key positions—including at quarterback, wide receiver, left tackle, defensive end, and cornerback, it would be great if the Colts could keep Dodds in the fold—that is, for at least one more year in 2021.
Otherwise, his loss would be a significant one in the Colts scouting department.
