Among the NFL’s top-32 highest-paid tight ends entering the 2024 season is the Indianapolis Colts’ Mo Alie-Cox.
On a per-year basis, Alie-Cox is earning $5.85 million per year; however, with this being the final year of his deal, none of that is guaranteed. This is one reason why PFF picked Alie-Cox as a potential cut candidate, which would result in $5.92 million in cap savings for the Colts. Likely a key factor in that decision will be the play of Drew Ogletree, who would take on a larger role without Alie-Cox.
GM Chris Ballard has invested fairly heavily into the tight end position through the draft in recent years and has built a room with a variety of skill sets that will allow Shane Steichen to deploy the tight end position in a number of different ways, almost regardless of the situation. But because Jelani Woods, Kylen Granson, Will Mallory, and Ogletree are all still playing on their original rookie deals, salary cap-wise, the Colts have relatively little devoted to the position.
With the help of Over the Cap, here is a look at where Alie-Cox’s 2024 earning potential ranks among the rest of the top-32 highest-paid tight ends this season:
