The Indianapolis Colts are in trouble at the quarterback position. Carson Wentz will soon undergo foot surgery and miss the next five to 12 weeks, as a result, according to head coach Frank Reich.
There’s optimism Wentz’s recovery could take only a month, but it’s plausible it extends out to around three months. Regardless, the Colts are in a tough spot.
Indianapolis acquired Wentz earlier this year in a trade with the Philadelphia Eagles. The Colts believe the former North Dakota State star is still capable of being a star. Perhaps all he needed was a fresh start. The fresh start is off to a bad start with the latest injury news surrounding Wentz.
This is a devastating update for a team many believe is capable of winning the AFC South.
Breaking: Frank Reich says Carson Wentz had an old foot injury dating back to perhaps high school according to doctors. Over time, the broken bone came loose and caused pain. The decision has been made to undergo surgery and remove it. 5-12 weeks.

So who do the Colts turn to now? It’s an ugly quarterback depth chart behind Carson Wentz.
Jacob Eason, former University of Washington quarterback, is now getting first-team reps. Behind him, there’s Sam Ehlinger and Brett Hundley. Hundley is the only of the three to have thrown an NFL pass. Eason and Ehlinger have zero game experience.
The Colts are in serious trouble, and NFL fans know it.
Carson Wentz having surgery on his foot.. 5-12 weeks being set as the timetable.
5-12 weeks is QUITE a window.

So what do we know about Jacob Eason? He was a five-star quarterback coming out of high school and wound up committing to the Georgia Bulldogs. After suffering an injury back in 2017, he lost his starting gig to Jake Fromm. Eason then transferred to the University of Washington.
The 6-foot-6 quarterback completed 64.2 percent of his throws for 3,132 yards and 23 touchdowns with eight interceptions in one season with the Huskies. The Colts then took him in the fourth round of the 2020 NFL Draft.
It looks like the Eason era is about to begin in Indianapolis. What a turn of events for the Colts.
