NFL Insider Gives Latest On Carson Wentz Injury

Carson Wentz’s career with the Indianapolis Colts is off to a rough start. On Friday, it was announced that Wentz is out indefinitely because he needs to undergo further testing on a foot injury that he suffered at the end of Thursday’s practice.

The Colts acquired Wentz earlier this year in a blockbuster trade with the Philadelphia Eagles. A lot of NFL analysts called Indianapolis the perfect landing spot for the Pro Bowl quarterback because it would allow him to reunite with Frank Reich.

Unfortunately, the Colts will have to wait a little longer to see just how good Wentz can be in Reich’s offense.

According to NFL Network insider Mike Garafolo, Wentz will see foot specialist Robert Anderson to learn more about his injury and his recovery timeline.

“Update on Colts QB Carson Wentz: He will see noted foot specialist Robert Anderson in the near future, sources tell me and Ian Rapoport,” Garafolo said. “A firmer timeline for his return will be established at that point. For now, the team is taking solace in Week 1 still being 6 weeks away.”

NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport also had important information to share regarding Wentz’s foot injury. As of now, all options are on the table for Wentz, including a minor procedure.

On the bright side, Wentz doesn’t need to go under the knife at this time. Surgery is merely an option for him to consider.

All options are on the table, including a minor surgical procedure. The hope is to avoid it, but it’s possible. Either way, if Carson Wentz misses games it’s not likely to be many. https://t.co/Td3c1unuAd

Fortunately for the Colts, Week 1 of the regular season is still over a month away. That might just give Wentz enough time to recover from his foot injury.

Jacob Eason will receive the first-team reps for the Colts during Wentz’s absence. Right behind him on the depth chart is former Texas star Sam Ehlinger.
