Peyton Manning hasn’t worn the No. 18 jersey in blue and white for well over a decade, but he’s still helping the Colts at quarterback.
According to Colts reporter Zak Keefer, Manning was actually a significant factor in Matt Ryan landing with Indianapolis this offseason.
Tweeting, “As Matt Ryan mentioned after the trade, Peyton Manning had a big role in Colts’ recruitment of their new QB. Manning + Irsay talked throughout, and Peyton helped sell Ryan on the move. ‘He’s been nothing but incredibly helpful to the franchise he loves so much,’ Irsay said of 18.”

After a one-year trial on the Carson Wentz experience, the Colts decided to move on; eventually landing former MVP Matt Ryan via trade.
The 14-year veteran is now set to lead a Colts team with seemingly everything in place to contend in the AFC, but narrowly missed the playoffs in the final week of the season after losing to the lowly Jacksonville Jaguars.
It’s great to see Peyton Manning’s love for Indianapolis never waver, given all the success he enjoyed as a member of the team.
Even if it was maybe cut too short.
If Matt Ryan can provide anything near the production of Peyton Manning’s early-to-mid 2000s Colts, Indy should have no worries about missing the postseason.
