From the day he set foot in the NFL, Matt Ryan proved himself to be a more than capable franchise quarterback that could lead his team to a lot of wins.
But the last two years of his career… not so much.
After spending the entirety of his NFL life in Atlanta, Ryan suddenly found himself leading a young Colts team in 2022. However, a 4-12-1 season in Indianapolis saw Ryan get benched just 12 games in after posting several career-lows.
“I mean, it was a s–tshow, you know, it was a s–tshow of 18 months basically is the best way to describe it,” Ryan told The Athletic. “But I think everybody in our family handled it well and came out of it stronger and in a really good spot.”
Matt Ryan “wasn’t going to let one bad week ruin 14 years of awesome, of really positive, great experiences” in Atlanta, he told @TheAthleticNFL on Monday.https://t.co/4QEsXx83jZ

With that said, the former MVP still hasn’t officially retired as he makes the move to the booth for now.
“I’m staying in shape,” Ryan said. “I think it is kind of, ‘You know my number. You know where I’m at.’ If anything were to come up, you know, we’ll see. [CBS] is where my focus is at right now. But we’ll see how the season shakes out.”
Ryan will reportedly serve as an analyst for the network alongside Andrew Catalon and Tiki Barber.
