The Houston Texans were never going to trade Deshaun Watson to a division opponent. But that didn’t stop the Indianapolis Colts from trying.
The Colts reached out to the Texans on Monday in an attempt to speak with Deshaun Watson. The least surprising news of the day is that Houston’s front office declined.
“Houston has declined Indianapolis’ attempt to speak with Deshaun Watson, per source. Houston comfortable trading Watson – just not in the AFC South,” tweeted ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

Now, the attention turns to two teams interested in trading for Deshaun Watson: the Carolina Panthers and New Orleans Saints.
Watson is reportedly meeting with the two NFC South teams on Monday night in Houston. The meetings could decide where Watson is playing this upcoming season.
“Deshaun Watson now set to meet Monday evening in Houston with Saints and Panthers , the two front-runners to land him in a potential blockbuster trade, according to league sources,” Aaron Wilson tweeted on Monday afternoon.

Carolina has been the favorite for weeks now, but the New Orleans Saints are built for immediate success. The Saints are still trying to find a replacement for Drew Brees.
As long as it’s not the Colts or another AFC South team, the Texans will be happy to send Watson off and get a haul in return.
