It looks like Indianapolis Colts running back Jonathan Taylor is back with the team this week after previously trying to play hardball amid contract issues.
According to NFL insider Ian Rapoport, Taylor was back with the team on Monday. He had reportedly been away from the team to get rehab on his ankle.
However, Taylor’s return to the team does not mean his return to the active roster. He remains on the team’s PUP list and Rapoport noted that his stance on wanting a new contract has not changed.

Jonathan Taylor led the NFL in rushing during the 2021 season, breaking the franchise records for both yards and touchdowns previously held by Edgerrin James and Lenny Moore respectively.
However, the team has balked at giving him a lucrative contract extension given that they can simply place a franchise tag on him repeatedly until he can no longer play at a level worthy of it anymore.
As a result, Taylor has no outlets for receiving long-term NFL security.
By hook or by crook though, he’s going to have to play if he wants to make any money and get any years towards a new contract.
