The Indianapolis Colts are likely looking to add to the wide receiver room this offseason, hoping to bring in more speed and explosion to the passing game.
They can do so through free agency, which has several options to choose from on the open market. Or they can look to add one during the 2021 NFL draft, especially since Chris Ballard believes this year’s group is just as good as the 2020 crop.
Our friends over at Draft Wire published their updated rankings at wide receiver, which had LSU product Ja’Marr Chase leading the way.
The big three at the top of the class are Chase, DeVonta Smith and Jaylen Waddle. All three are likely to be gone by the time the Colts are on the clock at No. 21 overall, and they shouldn’t be expected to trade up for one.
If the Colts do go with a wide receiver in Round 1, which is highly unlikely, they would probably be looking at receivers like Rashod Bateman out of Minnesota, Rondale Moore out of Purdue and Kadarius Toney out of Florida—to name a few.
It will be interesting to see how the Colts go about addressing the wide receiver room, but the position needs to be added to this offseason.
