Injury Update For Colts All-Pro Quenton Nelson

August 4, 2021 by The Spun Leave a Comment

Indianapolis Colts star OL Quenton Nelson lined up against the Bills.

Quenton Nelson has been one of the NFL’s best offensive linemen since the moment that he entered the league in 2018. The Indianapolis Colts guard has started every single game of his three-year career, with three straight First-Team All-Pro selections and Pro Bowls.

The start to Colts training camp has been pretty rough. Carson Wentz, the team’s new quarterback, could miss serious time after having surgery on a lingering foot injury. That could set him back for up to 12 weeks, which would cost him the start of his first season with the team.

Now, Nelson is dealing with some sort of foot injury as well. After suffering an injury during Monday’s practice, he left with trainers and missed the team’s final 11-on-11 session.

Today, he’s present, but wearing a walking boot at practice according to Indianapolis Star reporter Jim Ayello. It is unclear what the specific injury is, or how severe it may be.

Quenton Nelson has arrived at practice wearing a boot on his right foot.

Not sure what the injury is but we’ll have a chance to ask Frank Reich after practice today.

The fact that Quenton Nelson is at practice at all has to be a good sign, at the very least. Hopefully, we’ll find out more when Frank Reich speaks to the media after today’s practice.

The Colts have pretty high expectations for 2021. The team is coming off of an 11-5 season in which they earned the final AFC Wild Card spot. With Philip Rivers playing his final NFL game, they fell to the 2-seed Buffalo Bills 27-24.

There are plenty of valid questions about how Carson Wentz will play this year, without getting to the injury. If the team has to rely on Jacob Eason or the newly acquired Brett Hundley, that ceiling is even lower. Throw in concerns about Quenton Nelson, and this is turning into a week the Colts would like to forget.
