The 2022 NFL draft is finally here and while the Indianapolis Colts aren’t expected to make a selection in Round 1 on Thursday night, they will be paying attention heavily to how the start of the weekend goes down.
The Colts no longer have a first-round pick due to the conditions of the Carson Wentz trade in 2021 with the Philadelphia Eagles (No. 16 overall). The Eagles then traded that pick to the New Orleans Saints this offseason.
During the 2022 offseason, the Colts traded Wentz, the No. 47 and the No. 240 overall pick to the Washington Commanders in exchange for the No. 42 overall, No. 73 overall and a conditional 2023 third-round pick.
A few weeks later, the Colts sent their original third-round pick (No. 82 overall) to the Atlanta Falcons in exchange for quarterback Matt Ryan.
