Gardner Minshew Impressed By What He's Seen From Anthony Richardson

The Indianapolis Colts went all-in at quarterback in the 2023 NFL Draft, taking a gamble on Florida’s Anthony Richardson with the No. 4 overall pick. Thus far, one of their veterans likes what he’s seeing.

Speaking to the media in his recent press conference, Colts quarterback Gardner Minshew spoke glowingly about the rookie. He said that all of the quarterbacks in the room are working to improve one another. Minshew noted that Richardson has been studying hard and doing a great job on and off the field.

“First time kind of being the older guy, it’s a little bit different. It’s cool to be able to help,” Minshew said, via ProFootballTalk. “Wherever I can, helping him — to see the things that he’s picking up, it’s exciting. I remember kind of doing the same stuff and remembering how hard, but also how fun it is when that starts clicking. It’s been cool to kind of see that part.

“My performance doesn’t really have anything to do with his performance. I can go out there and be great and it’s not going to affect him. He can go out there and be great and it’s not going to affect me. So, I think our whole room is just pushing to be the best that we can be and that way serves the team the best we can.”

“It’s been cool to see him — he studies hard, he picks it up, he wants to learn,” Minshew said. “So, he’s been doing a great job there. He has been improving steadily and I think he will continue to.”

Anthony Richardson didn’t have the best stats in college. He completed less than 55-percent of his passes over three seasons.

But his measurables were off the charts and he has scouts raving that he could be an even better version of Cam Newton or even Josh Allen.

Will Richardson be the top quarterback in his class?
