The Indianapolis Colts learned of some big news Tuesday when left tackle Anthony Castonzo announced his retirement from the NFL after 10 seasons wearing the horseshoe.

As the Colts try to find a way to replace Castonzo on the blindside, Stephen Holder of The Athletic reached out to former quarterback Andrew Luck, who had some high praise for his best friend and former left tackle.

“Anthony has had an absolutely tremendous and underrated career. He has been a towering pillar for the Colts over the last decade and it was an honor to play with him. Very few people, if any, outworked Anthony and his dedication to his craft was inspirational. He is a great friend, I am proud of him for retiring on his own terms, and I am excited to see what his future holds.”

As someone who retired on his own terms, Luck knows a thing or two about going through this process. It was a difficult decision for him, especially considering he did so after going through a ridiculous cycle of injuries.

Castonzo has been a huge piece of the puzzle for the Colts and was the left tackle throughout Luck’s career. The two formed a strong bond throughout their playing careers and it will be interesting to see what retirement holds for the both of them.
