Indianapolis Colts cornerback Isaiah Rodgers Sr. was one of three players to be suspended indefinitely by the NFL for gambling on Thursday.
Rodgers, along with teammate Rashod Berry and free agent Demetrius Taylor, are banned for at least the entire 2023 season. The Colts released both players earlier today after the suspensions were announced.
According to a report from ESPN’s David Purdum, an online sportsbook account used by Rodgers made more than 100 bets, including one involving his own team.
“A source told ESPN that friends of Rodgers, who were in Florida, encouraged him to place many of the wagers, the majority of which were in the $25-$50 range,” the report reads. “Legal sports betting was not available in Florida this past football season. The largest wager placed through the account was a $1,000 prop bet on the over/under on rushing yards by a Colts running back, which won.”

The NFL reportedly found no evidence of these players manipulating games, which is a good thing, but this is still a colossally stupid way to get yourself suspended.
Besides the three players slapped with indefinite bans, Tennessee Titans offensive tackle Nicholas Petit-Friere was suspended six games for betting on other sports at the workplace.
