In order to make room for cornerback Ameer Speed on the roster, the Colts released former All-ACC wide receiver Amari Rodgers.
Rodgers was an impact player at the collegiate level, hauling in 181 passes for 2,144 and 15 touchdowns during his four-year career at Clemson. He was part of the 2018 roster that won the national championship.
Unfortunately for Rodgers, his pro career hasn’t been nearly as prolific.
Since entering the NFL in 2021, Rodgers has recorded just 20 receptions for 249 yards and a touchdown. The majority of his production took place in Houston last season.
Rodgers received just two targets in three games with the Colts. To be fair, he only saw 25 snaps on offense.
We have claimed CB Ameer Speed off waivers (from New England) and waived WR Amari Rodgers.

It’s unclear if Rodgers will get picked up by another team. Clearly, the Colts felt like he was expendable.
Michael Pittman Jr. and Josh Downs have been the top receivers for the Colts this season. Second-year wideout Alec Pierce has also made a few plays for Shane Steichen’s squad.
