Colts vs. Rams: Updated injury report for Week 2

September 16, 2021 by Colts Wire Leave a Comment

The Indianapolis Colts (0-1) and Los Angeles Rams (1-0) have released their updated injury reports on Thursday ahead of the Week 2 matchup at Lucas Oil Stadium.

There are severe injury concerns for the Colts this week. It doesn’t seem to be trending in the right way for right tackle Braden Smith, who is dealing with a foot injury.

Here’s a look at the updated injury report for the Colts on Thursday:

*DNP = Did Not Participate — LP = Limited Participant — FP = Full Participant*

Player Injury Wed. (9/15) Thur. (9/16) Fri. (9/17) Status
LB Darius Leonard Ankle/Illness DNP DNP
G Quenton Nelson Foot/Back DNP DNP
CB Xavier Rhodes Calf DNP DNP
T Braden Smith Foot DNP DNP
T Eric Fisher Achilles LP LP
DE Kemoko Turay Groin LP LP
DE Kwity Paye Hamstring LP DNP
DE Al-Quadin Muhammad Ankle LP FP
TE Jack Doyle Rest — DNP
S Khari Willis Illness — DNP
WR Mike Strachan Ankle — LP

The statuses of Leonard and Nelson don’t look encouraging, but they may be held out of practice more as a precaution. They likely need to log a practice on Friday to have a chance to play. Leonard added an illness to the ankle injury he played through in Week 1.

Another discouraging development is in regards to Kwity Paye. It’s typically not a good sign when a player is limited to begin the week and then follows it the next day with a DNP. Friday’s practice is huge for the rookie’s status.

Cornerback Xavier Rhodes also hasn’t logged a practice yet this week, but Frank Reich said Wednesday that the veteran is expected to get out on the field at some point. That remains to be seen.

Left tackle Eric Fisher also continues to be limited, and it isn’t clear if that will be enough to get him on the field for his debut. He’ll have a better chance if he logs a full practice on Friday.

Here’s a look at the updated injury report for the Rams in Week 2 (to be updated):

*DNP = Did Not Participate — LP = Limited Participant — FP = Full Participant*

Player Injury Wed. (9/15) Thur. (9/16) Fri. (9/17) Status
DT Aaron Donald Rest DNP
DT Sebastien Joseph-Day Knee DNP
LB Terrell Lewis Rest DNP
T Andrew Whitworth Rest DNP
DT A’Shawn Robinson Knee LP
