The Indianapolis Colts are hoping that Anthony Richardson is the franchise quarterback they’ve been looking for since Andrew Luck retired. But one of his teammates believes they’ve found him and something more.
Speaking to CBS Sports’ Jonathan Jones, Colts wide receiver Michael Pittman was asked if Richardson is going to be a Hall of Fame player. Pittman responded with an emphatic “Yes.”
“Yes. Yes he is,” Pittman stated. “He still has probably like 15 years to go. But I mean, like, I see him (and) dude’s a freak out here. Like, he’s, what, 240, can probably bench press a house. He’s like faster than me probably but, like, I would never tell him that though.”
That’s a pretty bold prediction for Michael Pittman and one that Colts owner Jim Irsay had in mind when he let the team draft Richardson fourth overall in the 2023 NFL Draft.

But Anthony Richardson will have a lot of doubters to overcome. He’s one of the few quarterbacks in recent memory to be drafted that high without elite passing stats.
In college he completed less than 55-percent of his passes – not exactly numbers that the average NFL quarterback gets drafted with anymore.
But with the team that the Colts have assembled, they can at least make it easy for Richardson to enjoy a safe welcome to the NFL.
