The Indianapolis Colts announced the signings of defensive back Nick Nelson and tight end Jordan Thomas on Tuesday to Reserve/Future Contracts.
Nelson was recently brought in for a team workout with the Colts last week:
“[He] was originally a 2018 4th round pick of the NFL Draft by the Oakland Raiders.
The 5’11”, 205 pound cornerback (with 30 3/4” arms) has appeared in 12 career games (3 starts), recording 20 tackles (10 solo), a pass defensed, and a fumble recovery.
The former Wisconsin Badgers’ cornerback was First-Team All-Big Ten in 2017, as he had 35 tackles (26 solo), a tackle for loss, and 21 passes defensed during his junior season.”
It’s interesting that the Colts now list him at safety—indicating a potential position change.
Meanwhile, Thomas is a former 2018 6th round pick of the Houston Texans (2018-19), but has also played with the Arizona Cardinals (2020) and New England Patriots (2020).
The 6’5”, 277 pound tight end has 22 receptions for 226 receiving yards (10.3 ypr. avg.) and 5 touchdown receptions during 27 career games (12 starts).
