WESTFIELD – Injuries have resulted in the Indianapolis Colts addressing their cornerback room.
The team signed free agents Tre Herndon and Duke Shelley and placed David Long Jr. on the injured reserve list with a groin injury. The Colts also released tight end Albert Okwuegbunam Jr.
The cornerback position is dealing with hamstring injuries to Jaylon Jones and JuJu Brents. Jones, who has started 27 games the past two seasons, injured his left hamstring in Tuesday’s practice at Grand Park while Brents was held out of that day’s work altogether.

Herndon has appeared in 84 games with 34 starts while spending time with New Orleans, the New York Giants and Jacksonville. He has collected 233 tackles, three interceptions and 32 passes defensed.

Shelley has started 11 games and appeared in 53 with the Giants, Los Angeles Rams, Las Vegas Raiders, Minnesota Vikings and Chicago Bears. He’s contributed 87 tackles, one interception and 14 passes defensed.
Herndon appeared in one game for the Saints last season and Shelley appeared in one game with the Giants.
