Tight end and linebacker are two of the biggest needs for the Indianapolis Colts, but upgrading the offensive line can’t be overlooked. Arizona Wildcats right tackle Jonah Savaiinaea is considered one of the top offensive linemen in the 2025 NFL Draft. He’s certainly a prospect the Colts should target on Day 2 of the draft.
The Colts have lost a couple of key offensive linemen this offseason. With a far-from-elite quarterback situation and the importance of the Jonathan Taylor-led running game, a good offensive line is a necessity. Could Savaiinaea take his talents to Indy to help fix things?

Revisiting His Career
Jonah Savaiinae attended Saint Louis High School in Honolulu, Hawaii. He received college offers from Hawaii, Syracuse, Arizona State, UNLV, and San Diego State but ultimately committed to the University of Arizona.
During his first year with the Wildcats, Savaiinaea was named to the FWAA freshman all-American team and was also an honorable mention all-Pac-12 Conference selection. He spent three seasons at Arizona, starting all 36 games he played in.
Savaiinaea played right guard as a freshman before moving to right tackle in 2023. Last season, he shifted between both tackle spots, starting his final five contests at left tackle. Savaiinaea allowed only eight sacks in 1,544 career pass-blocking snaps, according to Pro Football Focus.
Why the Colts Should Draft Jonah Savaiinaea
The Colts have had an impressive offseason so far. They managed to sign defensive backs Charvarius Ward and Camryn Bynum on Day 1 of free agency. And they later signed quarterback Daniel Jones, who should give Anthony Richardson some much-needed competition in training camp.
However, they lost both center Ryan Kelly and guard Will Fries to the Minnesota Vikings this offseason. Those are two huge losses for the team. Drafting Savaiinaea would be a good move for Indianapolis to help bolster the offensive line.
As it stands today, Bernhard Raimann and three-time All-Pro Quenton Nelson are the starters on the left side of Indy’s offensive line. 2024 fourth-rounder Tanor Bartolini will replace Kelly at center, while veteran Braden Smith returns at the right tackle spot. Matt Goncalves will likely move from tackle to guard, replacing Fries.
With Smith and Raimann at the tackle, Savaiinaea would begin his Colts’ career as a backup. Yet, he could become a starter in 2026 if Smith leaves as a free agent. Savaiinaea would provide the Colts with interior depth. He’s one of the more versatile prospects in the draft as he can play several positions, including guard. Savaiinaea has a wide-bodied frame and a barrel chest. He’s a good overall run-blocker and has solid pass-protecting skills. At 6-foot-5 and 336 pounds, his game is built on power, strength, and awareness.
Again, the Colts’ running game is important. The team has Jonathan Taylor, one of the league’s top running backs, and Anthony Richardson is known for his amazing ability to make plays with his legs. Drafting Jonah Savaiinaea, who could help the offensive line, just makes sense. Indy needs all the help they can get.
