“Not going to put a timetable for training camp on it, but when (Richardson) does come back, we will ease him into throwing and then we will go from there,” Steichen told reporters Thursday. “The good thing is, he’s not going to need a procedure right now.”
NFL Network will broadcast a live slate of 21 preseason games in August, starting with the coverage of the 2025 preseason opener between the Indianapolis Colts and the Baltimore Ravens.

The Ravens will host a joint-practice with the Colts at the Under Armour Performance Center prior to the Thursday Night Football matchup, which commences the first weekend of preseason games on Aug. 7. at 7 p.m. ET. Following the Week 1 preseason road trip, the Colts will host the Green Bay Packers for at least one joint-practice at Grand Park Sports Campus in Westfield, Ind. ahead of their lone preseason home game on Aug. 16.
All eyes will be focused on the NFL debut of rookie tight end Tyler Warren to discover how Colts head coach Shane Steichen utilizes him in a run-pass-option scheme. Indianapolis’ first-round draft pick has the potential to become the most impactful rookie addition to any NFL offense in 2025. As players seek to surge up the depth chart with standout performances, Colts defensive coordinator Lou Anarumo will also get a live look at his revamped unit against an opponent.

With two months before the preseason opening weekend, Colts fans eager to catch the first live glimpse of the quarterback battle between Anthony Richardson and Daniel Jones may have to wait. Richardson mentioned to team doctors and trainers that he felt pain in his throwing shoulder after an OTA practice last Thursday. It was discovered Indy’s third-year QB sustained an injury to the same AC joint that previously ended his rookie season and required surgery.
Steichen described the latest setback as an “aggravation in his AC joint” and chose to sit him out indefinitely. Richardson has dealt with seemingly a dozen setbacks since being drafted fourth overall in 2023. There is a slight indication the injury may limit Richardson’s participation early into training camp. Steichen revealed the Colts report to training camp on July 22.
“Not going to put a timetable for training camp on it, but when (Richardson) does come back, we will ease him into throwing and then we will go from there,” Steichen told reporters Thursday. “The good thing is, he’s not going to need a procedure right now.”

Jones will be presented the first opportunity to win the Week 1 starting job taking all of the first-team reps during veteran minicamp, scheduled for June 10-12. The 28-year-old veteran signed a one-year, $14 million deal with the Colts during free agency, making Jones the 21st highest-paid QB in the league.
It’s become an automatic revolving door likely to continue until Indianapolis can solve its quarterback dilemma. The Colts have started six different quarterbacks in the last seven season openers, including Andrew Luck, Jacoby Brissett, Philip Rivers, Carson Wentz, Matt Ryan and Anthony Richardson. It must be frustrating for Steichen to still have to orchestrate an offense for two different QBs in his third season with the Colts. The optimism ahead of the 2025 season is wearing thin, in June.
