Up to this point in the offseason for the Indianapolis Colts, the theme has been continuity. The Colts made it a point of emphasis to re-sign or extend their own players this offseason and made just a couple of outside additions to their roster.
“I think any time you can keep continuity in your own players is a good thing,” general manager Chris Ballard said via Colts.com. “It’s not a bad thing. Because you know what you’re getting in the player. It’s always easy to look outside and think, automatically, that no doubt this guy’s going to be an upgrade. But there’s usually a reason they hit free agency.”
However, like every team, while the Colts were able to fill some needs or plug some roster holes during free agency, there are still several positions that have to be prioritized in the upcoming NFL Draft, most notably receiver, cornerback, safety, and edge rusher.
With the draft now only a week away, let’s take a position-by-position look at the Colts’ roster and what needs still have to be tackled as Ballard continues to assemble the 90-man roster for training camp.
