The Colts are loaded at the running back position. One of their backs could be on the trading block, as a result.
According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the Colts are considering trading Marlon Mack. Mack’s workload has been greatly reduced this season because of the rise of Jonathan Taylor and Nyheim Hines.
Just two years ago, Mack was the Colts’ feature back. He carried the rock 247 times for 1,091 yards and eight touchdowns. Fast forward to 2021 and he’s played in just one game so far this season (five carries for 16 yards in Week 2).
With just one year left on Mack’s deal, the Colts are trying to get something before they let him walk for free this coming off-season.
One reason Colts’ RB Marlon Mack didn’t play Sunday is because, per league sources, the team is considering trading him. Mack’s on a one-year deal, he’s healthy and still can be productive.

This is a smart strategy by the Indianapolis Colts who don’t have much of a need for Marlon Mack right now. But teams probably won’t be willing to part with much considering the Colts’ strategy is rather obvious.
A team like the San Francisco 49ers, who rely heavily on their rushing attack and have lost multiple backs to injury so far this season, could have interest. It’ll come down to the Colts’ asking price, though.
It’s worth mentioning Mack is still young (25) and is healthy. He ran for over 1,000 yards just two years ago. He’s still capable of being a high-impact player on the offensive side of the ball.
Stay tuned. It looks like Indianapolis could soon find a trade partner and find a new home for Mack.
