Indianapolis Colts cornerback Isaiah Rodgers Sr. apologized for his actions amid reports of an ongoing gambling investigation.
On Monday afternoon, a report from Sports Handle’s Matt Rybaltowski said an unnamed Colts player was under investigation for allegedly placing “hundreds of wagers,” including some on his own team.
Later on, Fan Nation Colts writer Destin Adams reported that it was Rodgers who is the subject of the probe. The 25-year-old cornerback confirmed the news and took responsibility in a statement released on Twitter tonight.
“Addressing the current reports, I want to take full responsibility for my actions,” Rodgers wrote. “I know I have made mistakes and am willing to do whatever it takes to repair the situation.
“I made an error in judgment and I am going to work hard to make sure that these mistakes are reflected through this process. It’s an honor to play in the NFL and I have never taken that lightly. I am very sorry for all of this.”

Rodgers has appeared in 45 games with 10 starts for the Colts over the last three seasons, with nine of those starts coming in 2022.
The UMass product has amassed 90 career tackles, four fumble recoveries, three interceptions and 10 passes defensed and has also served as a kick and punt returner.
The NFL has already suspended several Detroit Lions players for gambling this offseason, and current Jacksonville Jaguars wide receiver Calvin Ridley was banned for the entire 2022 season for the same issue.
We’ll see what punishment the league has in store for Rodgers.
