The Indianapolis Colts are going to be without rookie quarterback Anthony Richardson for at least the next four weeks.
Indianapolis put the No. 4 overall pick on injured reserve Wednesday morning, which will keep him out of action for four games, at minimum.
Richardson injured his throwing shoulder during Sunday’s win over the Tennessee Titans. He was later diagnosed with a Grade 3 sprain of the AC joint.
Backup Gardner Minshew replaced Richardson against the Titans and will start in his place over the next few weeks. Indianapolis signed former Minnesota Vikings third-round pick Kellen Mond to its practice squad in order to add more depth at the position.
We have signed G Ike Boettger to the 53-man roster from the practice squad and placed QB Anthony Richardson on IR.
We have also signed WR Anthony Miller and QB Kellen Mond to the practice squad and released WR Juwann Winfree from the practice squad.

Early in his first season, Richardson has flashed major potential but also a troubling inability to stay on the field. He’s had to leave three of his first five games due to some type of physical issue.
Now 3-2 on the season, the Colts will take on the Jaguars in Jacksonville this weekend, followed by home games against the Cleveland Browns and New Orleans Saints. Indianapolis will then travel to Carolina to take on the Panthers on Nov. 5.
The earliest Richardson can return to the field is Nov. 12 against the New England Patriots, but with a bye the following week, it’s possible the Colts wait until the end of November to bring him back.
