Jim Irsay’s health has been a big question going into the offseason and according to Indianapolis GM Chris Ballard, the Colts owner continues to recover from a respiratory illness that put him in the hospital.

Speaking to reporters Wednesday, Ballard said that Irsay is “progressing well” and that he appears to be in good spirits.

He is progressing well. We are talking. … [Coach] Shane [Steichen] and I have talked to him multiple times and we keep him abreast of anything. Look, at the end of the day we’re not gonna do anything without his approval, and so we still keep him in the loop. I mean, you know him, now. He wants to know. He loves his team. And so, you know, he’s making his way. And he’s doing well. He’s doing better.

The team released a statement on Irsay’s condition last month. Saying via its social media accounts: “Mr. Irsay continues to recover from his respiratory illness. We will have no further comment on his personal health, and we continue to ask that Jim and his family’s privacy be respected.”

Irsay himself offered his first public comments since undergoing treatment. Tweeting, “On the mend. Grateful for all the messages of love and support.”
