INDIANAPOLIS – Jonathan Taylor’s latest breakout game caught the attention of the league office.
The Indianapolis Colts’ veteran running back has been named AFC Offensive Player of the Week on the strength of his performance in Sunday’s 29-28 win over Denver.
Taylor rushed 25 times for 165 yards and added 50 yards and a touchdown on two receptions. It marked the fifth time he piled up at least 200 total yards from scrimmage with one touchdown, tying Edgerrin James’ club record.
Taylor heads into Sunday’s road test against the Tennessee Titans as the NFL’s leading rusher (236 yards) and leader in yards from scrimmage (313).
He’s the first Colt with at least 150 rushing yards and 50 receiving yards in a game since Marshall Faulk in 1998.
“He ran tough, he ran physical, he ran downhill,’’ Shane Steichen said after Sunday’s game. “. . . so, just a helluva performance by him and the guys up front.’’
