Over the weekend, ESPN quietly published a report that the Washington Commanders made a pass at Andrew Luck last season as they searched for their next quarterback.
But Colts owner Jim Irsay has a warning for teams interested in the now-retired QB, he’s off-limits.
“If any NFL team attempted to contact Andrew Luck (or any associate of him) … to play for their Franchise — it would be a clear violation of the League’s Tampering Policy,” Irsay tweeted not too long after.

Luck, who retired back in 2019 with three years left on his deal, is technically still property of the Colts and Indy would own his rights if he ever decided to come back to the NFL (not that there’s any indication he’d do so).
It’s not clear in what capacity the Commanders reached out to the former No. 1 pick. But a source with the Colts has said the team is “seeking to learn more about what exactly transpired and whether any tampering occurred.”
The four-time Pro Bowler is now 33-years-old. In the last season he played, the Colts went 10-6 and Luck threw for 4,593 yards 39 touchdowns and 15 interceptions.
