INDIANAPOLIS — The Indianapolis Colts will now be owned by the three daughters of Jim Irsay, the team’s late owner and chief executive officer.
According to a news release from the team on Monday, Carlie Irsay-Gordon, Casey Foyt and Kalen Jackson will serve as co-owners of the team. All three will also serve additional roles, including:
- Irsay-Gordon will become the owner and chief executive owner
- “In this role, she will serve as the team’s principal owner, but all three sisters will share leadership duties for the club,” the release said.
- Foyt will become the owner and executive vice president
- Jackson will become the owner and chief brand officer, as well as the president of the Indianapolis Colts Foundation.
This comes after all three served as the team’s vice chair/owner since 2012. The new roles and titles are effective immediately. These new roles will continue the team being one of the few NFL franchises under sole family ownership.
The release said that the Irsay family first acquired the team in 1972 when it was located in Baltimore. In 1984, Robert Irsay, Jim Irsay’s father, moved the team to Indianapolis. After Robert Irsay’s death in 1997, Jim Irsay became the sole owner of the Indianapolis Colts.
“Under Jim’s tenure as owner, the Colts earned 10 division championships, won two AFC Championships and won the club’s fourth world championship with a victory in Super Bowl XLI,” the release said. “From 2000-09, the Colts produced 115 regular season wins, which at the time was the most in a decade for any team in the league.”
The release said that Irsay-Gordon has represented the Colts at NFL meetings since 2004 and is a member of multiple league committees. Irsay-Gordon also serves on the board of the NFL Player Care Foundation.
Foyt helped plan the NFL’s first regular-season game played outside of North America, the release said. Since she joined the Colts in 2007, she as been in the marketing and community relations department. Foyt also helps represent the team at NFL meetings and other events.
Jackson is the leader of the team’s “Kicking the Stigma” campaign, one that raises awareness about mental health disorders and ends the stigma associated with them. Jackson is also president of the Indianapolis Colts Women’s Organization and also represents the team at NFL meetings. Jackson also chairs the NFL’s employee benefits committee.
According to previous reports, Jim Irsay died at the age of 65 on May 21. Irsay’s funeral was hosted earlier this month at St. Luke’s United Methodist Church.
