Earlier this week, star receiver T.Y. Hilton returned to practice for the first time since a preseason neck injury that sidelined him for the first five games of the season.
Though he made his return to the practice field, the Colts held off on activating him from the IR — until today that is.
On Saturday, the team announced that Hilton has been activated and is set to make his 2021 season debut against the Houston Texans tomorrow afternoon.

Following this preseason neck injury that required surgery to repair, Hilton admitted that he “almost hung it up” and called it quits on his NFL career before sharing some conversations with his former quarterback Andrew Luck. But now that he’s back in the mix, the former league receiving leader is excited to make an impact on his struggling squad.
“Seeing [the team] and bringing that smile to their face and uplifting them… that’s what we needed,” Hilton said on Friday.
Including the first five games of this season, Hilton has been sidelined for 14 games with multiple injuries over the past four years. Through 15 games in the 2020 season, the veteran wideout logged 56 receptions for 762 yards and five touchdowns.
In Hilton’s absence, second-year receiver Michael Pittman has stepped up as the team’s leading receiver. Pittman and Zach Pascal are the only Colts wide receivers with more than 200 yards on the year, so Hilton’s presence on the field will surely be a welcome sight for Carson Wentz and the Indianapolis passing attack.
The 1-4 Colts will take on the 1-4 Texans tomorrow afternoon.
