INDIANAPOLIS – As expected, the Indianapolis Colts have added Jaylon Jones to the active roster for Sunday’s road game against the Pittsburgh Steelers.
The veteran cornerback has been on the injured reserve list since re-injuring a hamstring injury in the season opener against Miami.
The Colts opened the 21-day window for Jones’ return Oct. 20. He practiced three times on a limited basis that first week, then was a full participant in all three workouts this week.
“He had a good week of practice,’’ Shane Steichen said Friday. “We’ll see how it goes.’’
The Colts also signed cornerback Cameron Mitchell to the active roster from the practice squad and waived linebacker Chad Muma and safety Trey Washington.
Jones’ return automatically upgrades the cornerbacks’ room. He either will start at one of the outside spots against the Steelers or play significant minutes.
The 2023 seventh-round draft pick started 27 of 34 games in his first two seasons.
