The Colts are signing former Los Angeles Chargers’ offensive tackle Sam Tevi, per NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero.

In 1,024 snaps played last season, Tevi only surrendered two sacks, according to Pro Football Focus.
Since being drafted in 2017, durability has never been an issue for the former sixth-round pick either, as Tevi’s started a minimum of 14 games each of the last four seasons while with the Chargers.
One of the Colts’ biggest weaknesses from last season was their depth at both tackle positions.
Chaz Green, Will Holden and Le’Raven Clark all saw playing time after Anthony Castonzo went down with a season-ending injury and Braden Smith went down with an injury of his own late last season, as well. Bringing in a reliable backup, in Tevi, now helps solve the team’s backup tackle issue for the 2021 season.
At the very least, Tevi is a quality swing-tackle that can fill in on the left side, if needed.
While Tevi provides solid depth, with his experience at both tackle spots, the Colts will likely find a more long-term answer at left tackle through the draft.
