Anthony Richardson remained sidelined Friday, making it highly unlikely the Indianapolis Colts quarterback plays this Sunday.
The rookie missed his third straight day of practice after leaving Week 2’s 31-20 win over the Houston Texans early with a concussion. That all but eliminated Richardson’s chances of clearing the NFL’s concussion protocol in time to face the Baltimore Ravens.
Gardner Minshew will presumably start instead.

Richardson quickly demonstrated his athleticism by running for three touchdowns in his first two games. While less explosive in the pocket, the 21-year-old completed 30 of 47 passes for 279 yards, a touchdown, and an interception.
Colts head coach Shane Steichen said he believed Richardson sustained a concussion on his second touchdown rush of Sunday’s win at Houston.
Minshew played well in the neophyte’s place, going 19-of-23 with 171 yards and a passing touchdown. The former sixth-round pick will make his 25th career start.
While his teams are 8-16 in those games, including the Philadelphia Eagles dropping both of his starts for Jalen Hurts late last season, Minshew has a solid 93.4 quarterback rating over his career. Yet the 27-year-old said the Colts are still Richardson’s team.
“I told [Richardson] at halftime, like I’m gonna hold it down for you,” Minshew said after Sunday’s game. “Everybody follows him. He’s the leader of this team. I was happy to be able to fill in and help when I could. But I’m gonna continue to support him and help him the best way that I can.”
Minshew is poised to draw a tough assignment at Baltimore this Sunday at 1 p.m. ET.
