Even with his NFL paychecks in the bank, veteran quarterback Gardner Minshew is not a fan of spending his money.
In a recent ESPN feature from Ryan Hockensmith, Minshew opened up about some of his overly-frugal spending habits.
Perhaps the wildest story about Minshew’s money-saving tactics comes from his college days at Washington State. After transferring to Pullman in 2018, the former East Carolina QB picked up a mattress and boxspring from the side of a dumpster. To complete his college room, he spent $5 on a side table and $10 on a dresser.
Minshew has continued these habits into his NFL career. The multi-millionaire still drives the 2011 Acura that his parents gifted him for his high school graduation.
Minshew has earned just under $5.2 million since entering the NFL as a sixth-round draft pick in 2019. He’s set to earn $3.5 million this coming season as a member of the Indianapolis Colts.
