The Indianapolis Colts reportedly have their eye on a pair of veteran quarterbacks after moving on from the Carson Wentz experiment.
Per ESPN’s Dan Graziano, “The name I’m hearing the most as the Indianapolis Colts’ answer at quarterback is free agent Marcus Mariota.”

While also linking Vikings QB Kirk Cousins to Indy as well. However, it’s not clear whether or not Minnesota’s new regime will choose to move off of Cousins before next season.
Mariota has spent the last two years with the Raiders; though he hasn’t made a start since being benched in favor of Ryan Tannehill as a member of the Tennessee Titans.
The former No. 2 overall pick saw the field briefly while spelling Derek Carr for a play or two on designed runs and gadget plays with Las Vegas. But it’s been a while since we saw Mariota running an offense; and that may be what’s so intriguing about him for teams like the Colts.
The former Heisman winner is still one of the better athletes at the position. And would give Indianapolis more of a running dynamic than they had with Wentz.

Should they choose to go the Kirk Cousins route, Frank Reich would be getting a pocket passer that is more than capable of making all the throws. But, he has a reputation around the league of shrinking in big spots.
Which unfortunately did the Colts in, in their Week 18 loss to the Jaguars to miss the playoffs.
Statistically, Cousins was brilliant in 2021. Throwing for over 4,000 yards and 33 touchdowns to just seven interceptions. However, it was another middling record for the Vikings who have finished around .500 in three of the QB’s four seasons in the Twin Cities.
