Zach Edey sets record with six-straight 20 point, 10 rebound games in the NCAA Tournament

GLENDALE, Ariz. — Zach Edey has had quite the storied career as a two-time National Player of the Year at Purdue. But now, he’s done something that nobody has ever done before: recorded six-straight games in the NCAA Tournament with 20+ points and 10+ rebounds.

During Purdue’s Final Four game vs. NC State, Edey reached 20 points and 10 rebounds with 6:10 left on the clock in the second half to secure him the record. Edey set the historical mark by finishing a right-handed post-hook over his left shoulder.

This is the 29th double-double for Edey this season and 68th of his career.

Coming into the contest vs. NC State, Edey was tied with Navy and Spurs legend David Robinson, who recorded five-straight games with 20 points and 10 rebounds in the 1986 and 1987 NCAA Tournaments. That included a 50-point, 13-rebound game in a first-round loss to Michigan in 1987.

Behind Edey and Robinson, four people are tied with four straight games with 20+ points and 10+ rebounds in March Madness. Those players include Larry Bird (Indiana State), Blake Griffin (Oklahoma), Shane Battier (Duke) and Armen Gilliam (UNLV).

Here is Edey’s full historical run:

  • 21 points, 15 rebounds vs. No. 16 Fairleigh Dickinson (2023)
  • 30 points, 21 rebounds vs. No. 16 Grambling
  • 23 points, 14 rebounds vs. No. 8 Utah State
  • 27 points, 14 rebounds vs. No. 4 Gonzaga
  • 21 points, 10 rebounds vs. No. 2 Tennessee
  • 20 points, 10 rebounds vs. No. 11 NC State (ongoing)
