He’s since added 4 more.
During the first half of tonight’s game against Illinois Trey Kaufman-Renn scored a bucket that was like so many other he’s had throughout his career. In fact, the announcer said it seemed like TKR had scored 800 points off that same play. Turns out it was that bucket that saw TKR join the 1,000 point club.
He became the third Purdue player to reach the milestone so far this season. The others being Braden Smith and Fletcher Loyer of course.
TKR has been an integral part of this year’s team as the leading scorer and a consistent starter over the past two seasons. TKR helped lead the team to the National title game last season but was always overshadowed (literally) by Zach Edey. Now that Edey is in the NBA, TKR Has been able to showcase exactly why Matt Painter always viewed him as such a special player. There’s plenty more to come from TKR and Purdue as they look to earn the double bye against the Illini. Congrats to Trey Kaufman-Renn on this milestone.
