The former Purdue legend will expand his reach beyond college basketball
Robbie Hummel has very quickly made a name for himself beyond being a legend within the confines of Mackey Arena as he takes a major step forward in his career. It was announced that the former Boilermaker will join the NBA on NBC’s broadcast team for the 2025-2026 season. This will be the first time in two decades that NBC will be covering the NBA following its previous coverage from 1992 to 2002.
Following a successful college career that was frustrated with knee and back injuries, Hummel was selected by the Minnesota Timberwolves with the 58th pick in the 2012 NBA Draft. That experience would last only two full years along with some forays into international ball (also derailed by injuries), Hummel began his transition towards a broadcasting career. In 2017, Hummel signed his first three year contract with multiple networks and has quickly grown into one of the more respected color analysts in all of college basketball.
As an analyst on the B1G Network and later for ESPN, Fox, NBC, and Peacock, Hummel has broken through to be one of the most respects voices in college basketball. That respect would land him the opportunity to join the NBA on NBC as an analyst alongside Brad Daugherty, Derek Fisher, Austin Rivers, and Brian Scalabrine. Hummel will serve as a game analyst while Mike Grady will join as a play-by-play voice. Hummel
