Purdue coach Ryan Walters didn’t hold back Thursday when discussing Michigan’s sign-stealing scandal.
“It’s unfortunate and what’s crazy is there weren’t allegations,” Walters said. “It happened. And there’s video evidence, there’s ticket purchases and sales that you can track back and we know for a fact that they were at a number of our games and so we’ve had to teach our guys a new language in terms of some signals and we’ll operate differently offensively. You might see us in a huddle for the first time this season.”
Some fans were surprised that Walters was so adamant about his disdain for Michigan. Well, we now know why.
According to Ross Dellenger of Yahoo Sports, a school probe uncovered that Michigan staffer Connor Stalions bought tickets to six Purdue games over the past two years.
Some of the tickets were transferred to accounts registered in names believed to be Stalions’ family members. The university has video footage from stadium surveillance of people sitting in seats that he purchased filming the sidelines. The university has presumably transferred such evidence to NCAA investigators.
Obviously, that’s a terrible look for Stalions and Michigan.
Why is Purdue coach Ryan Walters so publicly candid about Michigan’s scheme?
