A tough non-conference slate is set.

Purdue Women’s Basketball officially announced Thursday morning the opponents for the Global Sports & Events St. Pete Showcase. A release had already been put out in August, but it appears things are officially set in stone.

Purdue’s first tilt will be against West Virginia on November 25th, followed by a matchup against either BYU or Florida State two days later on November 27th.

These types of events are what fans love to see, highly anticipated matchups with the opportunity to build your NCAA Tournament resume early on in the season.

Purdue will look to do just that on Thanksgiving. West Virginia finished the 2020-21 season with a record of 22-7 and secured a #4 seed in the NCAA Tournament, but ended up losing in their second round game to another Purdue foe this season in Georgia Tech.

BYU also had a successful season last year that they will look to improve upon, going 19-6 overall and earning an upset win over Rutgers as a #11 seed in the first round of the NCAA Tournament. They ultimately fell in the second round to Arizona.

The same could not be said for Florida State last season, as they finished a measly 10-9 but did end up playing as an 8 seed in the NCAA Tournament. The Seminoles fell to 9 seed Oregon State in the first round but it wasn’t the type of season they anticipated having.

As far as recent success goes, Purdue would fall to the bottom out of these four schools. The Boilermakers will have their work cutout for them during Thanksgiving week this year with all three squads believed to be NCAA Tournament material heading into the season.
