The biennial game takes place this Saturday.
With just two days to go before the biennial Purdue men’s basketball alumni game, the team has announced the participants. It’s a stacked group filled with players from as far back as the 1957 season. Yes, you read that right, the 1957 season. Bill Greve, who played at Purdue from 1957-1959 will be participating. I’m expecting him to start the game and play 40 minutes. If he can’t keep up, he might have to run a Mackey.
In all seriousness, I love seeing the turnout for this game each time they have it. It’s smart to have it every other year instead of every year. That way it feels just a bit more special and allows the guys to plan ahead for it and not have to commit to something every single year. The roster of players is of course stacked more heavily toward recent graduates with 20+ players coming from the Matt Painter era.
The full list of participants was released on the Boilerball twitter account. I’ve included that list below.

As a reminder this event is Saturday and as noted from the Purdue Sports website:
The sixth edition of the highly-popular game will take place at noon inside Mackey Arena, following the Purdue football team’s Fan Day that will start at 8:15 a.m. ET, with an open practice followed by autographs on the field from 10:15 to 11 a.m. ET.
Fans are then encouraged to head to Mackey Arena after football’s festivities to catch all your favorite former Boilermakers in action. In addition, this year’s current Boilermakers will be introduced as a group to the public for the first time.
Premium seating tickets have been reserved for premium seat season ticket holders and then non-premium seat JPC season ticket holders. However, good news for the rest of us, all other seating is free on a first come first served basis. The release was sure to point out that all entrances to Mackey Arena will be open so there should be no problem getting inside. Keep in mind that if you’re going, the clear bag policy will still be in effect. Don’t think that rule will go away just because it’s not a regulation game.
So, who are you most excited to see play on Saturday? Will you be in attendance? Will you go to Harry’s afterward? Let us know!
