Purdue Pete, who turned 83 this year, is getting a facelift of sorts for the 2023 college football season.
Purdue unveiled merchandise featuring a new Purdue Pete logo on Tuesday morning, which includes the famous mascot in a gold shirt with a black P on it and a gold hard hat.
Last redesigned in 2016, the Purdue Pete logo now also features a celebratory “Boiler Up” pose.

While this secondary Purdue logo looks good overall, we’re still concerned about Purdue Pete’s appearances in public.
The mascot’s costume is a bit infamous, leading to Pete being named the “creepiest college mascot” in the country in 2021.

According to Saturday Tradition, the former Purdue Pete logo will now be moved to the legacy collection with past iterations.
Purdue football will open its 2023 season at home in a non-conference matchup against Fresno State on Sept. 2, giving fans their first opportunity to show off the new gear on game day.
