Purdue is a significant underdog, but has a chance.
Can Purdue pull off a monumental road upset? The program has lost some early season momentum after the Minnesota loss and the offense is struggling, so facing one of the nation’s best defenses on its home field is not often a recipe for success, but Purdue at least has a chance here. In 2015 Purdue went to East Lansing as a gigantic underdog and nearly shocked the No. 2 Spartans before losing 24-21.
That team had a similar makeup to this Iowa team: Strong defense. Serviceable offense. They relied on the defense to sit on teams’ heads for 60 minutes to get the win.
Well, if Darrell Hazell can almost do it, maybe Jeff Brohm can finish the job.
A Purdue win would be a tremendous boost not only for this season, but the rest of the year going forward. It opens the door wide for a bowl game and maybe even the Big Ten West.
Shock the world.
